aBOUT OUR FARM
Hi, I’m Nina, the farmer & designer here at Pigeon Top Flowers. We grow specialty cut flowers at the base of our namesake, Pigeon Top Mountain.
This farm has been a long-time dream of mine, and has come about slowly, while working on other farms and with different florists and designers. I spent lots of time scheming and dreaming between the birth of my two children, and in 2024 we decided to dive in!
We spent most of our first season growing out our incredible dahlia tuber stock in our tiny garden, and tarping, composting, and cover cropping like mad to lay the groundwork for our first beds in the big pasture. After all of that sweat we have some beautiful ground ready to expand into!
After many seasons of growing and arranging flowers on other farms, I am thrilled to begin planting a collection of my favorite perennials, peonies, bulbs, woodies, and dahlias for gorgeous, garden-inspired bouquets and floral designs.
My team so far includes my husband and two kiddos, my parents, and a wonderful bunch of friends who have helped out in so many ways big and small to get this farm up and running.
OUR PRACTICES
We grow like we live here. We breathe the air, drink the well water, and our kids play in the flower field. We do not use any sprays that would harm the kids, wildlife, pollinators or the microbial life in our soil. We plan to do this for a long time so each decision is made with a long view, for the benefit of the long-term health of the land, the flowers, and the farmers.
For us this means focusing on our soil health first and foremost. We use minimal tillage and lots of compost, leaf mulch, and living cover crops to replenish the soil. Our long term plans include a solar array to power the farm!
WHERE TO FIND OUR FLOWERS
We sell to a handful of talented florists and designers (find us on Rooted!). We offer two different Bouquet Subscriptions- our Early Spring Bouquet Share, and our Dahlia Share- as well as bulk flowers and a la carte floral designs for weddings and events.
Our online shop has seasonal bouquets and arrangements along with dried flower wreaths and gift cards. We’re looking forward to connecting with fellow flower enthusiasts and plant nerds out there! Join our email newsletter to stay in touch and hear about on farm events.
